So, I've had a set of Ping Beryllium Copper (BeCu) ISI irons for about 10 years now, and they looked awfully tarnished. Dull brown with spots of brighter copper where sand or rocks had recently chipped away at the finish. Well, I decided to clean them this week. I did a little research, and several people had suggested White Vinegar and salt. Now, I'm not dissing it, it did help a lot. However, I had this image of the classic shiny copper tea kettle in mind when I was thinking "polished copper", and my clubs were still far from it. So, I was at Walmart this morning after church and saw this stuff called "Brasso" and recognized it from my research earlier this week. I tried it on the 2 iron I almost never use, just in case something went wrong and it did something bad like eat the paint off too.
The Brasso worked great. It was a whitish liquid, though it sometimes does come in more of a traditional wax/polish. I knew I'd never get a rag in the cavities in the back, so I went with the liquid and an old toothbrush. Any way, here's some pics.
